Yes, we love The Beatles! So much so, that I walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of Here, There and Everywhere and we danced to The Beatles singing it as our first dance. In turn, we are introducing the girls at an early age.

It has been such a long time that I was a little overwhelmed at the thought of blogging again. Here goes...

We had an amazing Christmas vacation in New Mexico with Nick's family! We are so lucky to have the best grandparents around (this includes my side =))! Nick and I even had sometime out alone during the day...that doesn't happen to often. And the food in that state...man, it is outstanding!!!

Teya is 19 months already! Here are her most recent stats:

weight: 24 lbs 8 ozs 60%
height: 33 in 90%
head circumference: 48.8 cm 95%

Nick and I have started going on a regular date night! Currently, once a month with the goal of twice a month soon. It just feels so nice to be able to have adult time away from the house!

Both girls got sick this month, 2 weeks of our lives I wish we could get back! But, we are back and better than ever.

I turned 30!

yes, mom and dad...you are getting old! :)

We had to get a new fence, since ours blew down when we got our record breaking 1'' of snow last month!

And Nick's amazing Gran passed away. What a wonderful women! It was an honor to have known her and been part of her family! We will miss her dearly!

Where to start...
November was a whirlwind. Did it even happen? =)

The dork in me creates a monthly calendar that I post on the refrigerator with appointments, visitors, what our meals will be and birthdays. Before the month even started, I knew it was going to be hopelessly busy. We actually had something on the calendar for 25 of the 30 days. YIKES! But, through it all we enjoyed a visit from GG and Monny, a visit from Aunt Pipi's, and a nice relaxing Thanksgiving with my family in Oklahoma. Sadly, amongst all of the fun, my dear Grandpa Joe passed away. He was a wonderful Grandpa and will be missed! I am so grateful that we were able to fly up to IL and be with my extended family to celebrate his life. We learned that the concept of death is a little more than a 3-year-old can comprehend. Mya would continually say, when will Grandpa Joe come home from the hospital? And when we would explain that he was in heaven, her response was, when will Grandpa Joe come home from heaven? That's when we learned that maybe sometimes little white lies are the best thing for them. The most memorable being when she visited his gravesite and asked, what's down there? I told her there is a treasure box full of all of Grandpa Joe's happiest memories down there. She liked that, and it was a little easier to comprehend then the reality.

All in all, we had a nice November and looking forward to the rest of our December!

Oh, are you asking...did you complete your 30 day challenge? The truth, no. But, I was able to do a different hairdo for the first 12 days of my challenge. And still try new ones every few days, along with perfecting the originals. Mya now sits relatively still while I fix her hair and she enjoys the fun new dos!

As most of you know, I am not the most up to date on fashion. I have my uniform I wear everyday...blue jeans, a solid color (v-neck or scoop neck) shirt and flip flops. My hair is in a messy pony tail and I am ready to go. I get nervous when I buy trendy things because by the time I get around to getting them I am not sure if they are cool anymore. So, in order to help my daughter become a little hipper than me, I have decided to challenge myself to creatively fix Mya's hair everyday this month (yes, I have started flowing blogs that chronicle how to put your daughters hair in pig tails). No more messy pony tails for my little girl! I won't bore you with pictures everyday, but will put together a little photo montage at the end of the month. Wish me and my hair-styling-challenged-self luck!

We love Halloween

and our friend Alex! What a wonderful Halloween weekend! First we celebrated little Alex's 2nd birthday out at Sweetberry Farms where the girls got to ride a horse for the first time, run/get lost in a corn maze, go on a hayride, and pick a bouquet of flowers! Not to mention skip naptime because we were having such a wonderful time with our friends!

Then, Sunday it was off to trick or treating. And of course, I forgot the camera. We had a wonderful time with our friends and have ended up with WAY to much candy. Both girls really enjoyed trick or treating. Mya would run as fast as she could to the door and yell trick or treat and Teya would slowly come from behind, push her way to the front and grab for candy at most houses. Now, to try and hide the candy from me and the girls! :)

What a blessing that I get to be home with my girls! I feel so lucky and cherish everyone moment, but some days are just hard. Today being one of them. It seems that no matter how hard I try someone will be crying at all times and at no fault to anyone, just one of THOSE days for all of us. As nap time approaches and I am nearly pulling my hair out, Mya picks 'Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?' by Dr Seuss. Four sentences into the book, it says,

"When you think things are bad,

when you feel sour and blue,

when you start to get mad...

you should do what I do!

Just tell yourself, Duckie,

you're really quite lucky!

Some people are much more...

oh, ever so much more...

unlucky than you!"

Thank you Dr Seuss for reminding me that its ok to have a bad day, but to remember how lucky I am for all that I have!

I did it! Well, almost. I am just about done making the girls Halloween costumes. Good thing Mya wanted such an easy one! Here is what the shirts look like:

The hard part is their hair. I have been thinking about what to do for weeks, do we buy a wig? blue hair dye? Well, here is what I came up with...

Speak now or forever hold your peace. Is this ridiculous? Perfect? It is felt and a headband. Can't get more one dimensional. =) It sure gave my mom a good laugh!

Oh, and did I mention, Nick and I have matching Thing One and Thing Two costumes. Cross your fingers I can get him to wear it!

Help me out mommies and daddies...

My 3-year-old loves television. We watch PBS Kids or children's movies and don't do more than either one movie or 2 shows per day. Usually we can get about 2 days with no TV time at all, but I tell you...it can be a battle. She has the most amazing attention span. If I were to let her, she could sit in front of the TV and watch movies all day. Not sure if the attention to TV is a good thing, but she pays such close attention she is reciting movie quotes...and somehow they tend to be the one line in the movie with the word "idiot." Yes, almost all children's movies use that word.

Is TV bad for a 3-year-old?
What is the limit?
When she is watching educational shows is it less bad?

Sometimes I think she really is learning concepts from the shows. This morning she told me that when it is dark and you turn your light on you can see the doors shadow. We have just started talking about shadows because of an episode of "Sid the Science Kid."

What do you think? Is TV ok in moderation? And what is moderation in TV?

We went to the Austin Zoo on Friday with my friend Jamie! It is really a rescue zoo or as they call it, an animal sanctuary, so 90% of their animals have been rescued from unfortunate circumstances. It was the funniest looking zoo I have ever seen! No elephants or giraffees, but lots of birds, sheeps and cats. And the coolest petting zoo! Notice how "enthusiastic" the animals in the petting corral get! The little boy in the back of the stroller is Manny. He is the sweet little boy I watch durning the week. What a fun afternoon!!!

Teya.

I have been thinking a lot about my baby girl lately. Trying to determine who she will be and what she will be like. Will she be just like her big sister or will she be just the opposite? Am I enabling her to be a happy baby and eventually happy girl and woman?

These days she is a bundle of contradictions. She wants to sit at the table to eat, who needs the highchair? But, she gets sassy when I feed the baby (my sweet friends son) and not her. She insists on climbing up the stairs, but wants to be carried down. She always wants to be picked up, but when you get her in your arms she is ready to be down and play. She is my Little Miss Fickle!

But, there are a few Little Miss's she is NOT...

Little Miss Bad - unless she is in a biting mood (which she thinks is hilarious...Mya and her poor fingers, not so much)

Little Miss Bossy - that title is currenly being held by her big sister.

Little Miss Careful - on the contrary...Little Miss Dare Devil.

Little Miss Chatterbox - but I know the day will come (for now, "uh uh uh" and points)

And when I say love, I mean it! :) Call me crazy, but there is something about that festival that I can't get enough of. And of the 6 years we have been attending the festival, this was by far the most amazing weather you could ask for, some would even call it epic.

Thank you to my wonderful mom for driving down to watch the girls! Thank you to my dear friend who made it possible for Nick and I to experience ACL VIP style one last year. What a treat for us. We had grown-up time, we had conversations that lasted longer than 30 seconds before someone (aka Thing One and Thing Two) needed something, we relaxed, stuffed our faces and rocked out to some amazing music!

My mom was even nice enough to drop Mya down at the festival in the evening to party with us! This was Mya's 3rd ACL and she had a blast. She was a dancing fool, running around having the time of her life. We mistakingly introduced her to the Zilker Beach...and it was all over. :) Sand castle creations for the rest of the weekend!

It's October...WHAT? Seriously, where did September go? Time to get those Halloween costumes made or I will be in some major trouble! I had decided to go the easy route this year. Since Mya was Boots (the monkey from Dora) when she was a year, I thought how about Teya is Boots and Mya is Dora. Well, Mya is well past the age of me deciding what she will be. So, when I asked her what she wanted to be, she responded with, "one thing one and one thing two." Of course, she has insisted that she is Thing One and Teya is Thing Two. So, this Halloween we will be paying homage to Dr Suess's Cat in the Hat! I can't thing of a better costume for my two crazy kids!

The little lady that I once thought would be my sweet, innocent, kind and gentle little bean is proving to be as stubborn, sassy and full of silliness as her big sister. She is a walking fool, wants to be completely independent, wants anything everyone else has, loves chatting nonsense and giving lots of hugs. She is a joy to be around as long as you don't cross her! =)

I am not eating my toes, I am sucking my toes. (in response to me say, "Mya gross, stop eating your toes")
Mommy, why don't you go to the store and I will watch the kids? (in response to, "hurry up let's get ready to go to the store")
Look at my arms, they have no clothes (In response to, "Mya you HAVE to wear clothes!")
Daddy's helmet doesn't fit on his head. His head is HUUUUGE! He has to play basketball. (this one just came out all on her own)
I am not a big kid. I can't reach tall things, see?

Mya was the flower girl in my cousin's wedding this past Sunday in Chicago, yep another road trip for me and the girls. This time it was approximately 30 hours total in the car in 5 days! But, we made it. We still like each other AND got to see my wonderful extended family. Thanks to my mom and sister for driving Mrs Daisy and her 2 hooligans across the US. We are so happy to be home again and just relax until our next adventure, which I hope either isn't for a really long time or that Nick is most definitely with us. Congratulations Shannon and Alec!

We have been Oklahoma bound a LOT lately. The reason for this...my best friend got married! First, the girls and I went for a week to help her get ready, then we came back to Austin for 5 days, got Nick and drove back for the wedding. It was so nice being able to spend so much time with my friend before her big day! Although we ended up goofing off more than planning, so I might not have been the best help. What a pretty bride!!!

Not only was the wedding so much fun, we got to see the girls' cousin Gracyn, two weekends in a row!!!! What a treat!

I am so far behind on writing about things that have been going on in our lives lately, but I was so excited about this that as soon as Mya did it, here I am posting it..

Mya says this is a picture of a monster face. I am just impressed that I can actually recognize that it is a face! She is becoming quite the artist. More and more, she is drawing amazing pictures. I mean, if you know my artistic ability, you would know that her monster drawing is way better than mine would be. And my favorite part, is what she wrote on the bottom left corner of her drawing. Yes, she wrote her name!!!!!!!!!

Like I said in my last post...where are my babies going??? I just realized that since school started yesterday, we only have one more "first day of school" before Mya's first day of school. I know it is 2 years away, but WOW time flies!

We had quite the successful doctors appointment on Wednesday, shots and all. Mya was so tough. She sat there and watched them give her a shot...didn't even flinch! Teya was also tough, but a few tears were shed (and, who can blame her?)

Mya's 3 year well check stats:
Weight - 34lbs - 60%
Height - 37 1/4'' - 60%

Teya's 1 year well check stats:
Weight - 21lbs 8oz - 60%
Height - 30'' - 75%
Head circumference - 47.5cm - >95% (but the nurse said, just barely)

Teya is a weed, she came from behind and is going for the gold. :) She has passed Mya in all areas of growth. This is hilarious to me, because I always thought Mya was my adorable chunky monkey and that Teya is my adorable skinny minny.

It isn't because of the weather!

It's because of all the wonderful celebrations that we have! I feel like we have been celebrating something everyday this month. Let's see...

Mya is 3! It is so hard to believe she is that old already. We are having a joint birthday celebration this weekend, because on the 19th, Teya will be 1! Seriously...I am starting to feel old. It is a Toy Story pool party. Cross your fingers for no rain. Family starts coming tomorrow, so it is party time!

AND, Nick and I celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary yesterday!

I had one of "those" moments with Mya yesterday. It was bedtime and Mya was screaming over and over, I want CANDY!!! I thought, I just might loose my mind. But luckily, the logical part of me won over. I went in her room explained we can't have candy now. Then out of the blue she so genuinely looked at me, hugged me and said "I love you mommy! thanks for walking with me, it meant a lot!" Really!? Did she just say that. We just laid there hugging as she looked at me fighting to stay awake. Moments like those are priceless, they are the most gratifying part of being a parent. I tell you, I LOVE being a MOMMY!

Those may be the 2 most often heard phrases coming out of Mya's mouth! I think almost, if not literally everything Mya says starts with: oh my gosh, so, actually or probably. Her vocabulary has exploded. Sometimes I actually feel like I am having real adult conversation. That is until I sit back and realize I have just spend 10 minutes discussing Goldfish or Teddy Grahams. But, my all time favorite phrase right now is: rose kolacha. You are probably wondering, what the heck does that means. It took me 2 days to realize she was saying arroz con leche. That's right, rice with milk. She loves her Sharing Day Dora book. And ever time I mention sharing, she mentions arroz con leche.

As for Teya, she has started a few new things of her own. She now waves hello and goodbye. More or less can say hi and bye, blows kisses and gives kisses. She makes the most obnoxious noise when she sees something she wants to eat and is about a patient as me I am not competitive. Funny enough, she looks more like Nick but has my personality and Mya looks more like me and has Nick's personality.

I have not been the best at keeping up with the blog lately. I think with the addition of a third baby (just to clarify...I have not had another baby and am not expecting...just babysitting), time seems to slip away.

The girls and I recently returned from a week long road trip up to Chicago with my family for a cousins wedding AND for Teya, the first time meeting her last set of Great Grandparents and my cousins Lexi and Alyssa! I am very happy that we have been able to introduce both girls to all of their Great Grandparents.

My Cousin Lou, married a wonderful girl, Sarah. The wedding was beautiful and it was so nice to see the Dunn clan. We actually head back up to Chicago for another Dunn cousin wedding (Shannon and her fiance are in the picture to the left of Amy & Mya) soon. Mya will be the flower girl, she is so excited, excited to wear her pretty dress and dance her heart out again!

The biggest loser...

that's me! My playgroup mommy friends and I had a friendly "Biggest Loser" competition, but as you may know, I am not too friendly about competition. I took it a little too seriously, but it paid off! 8lbs later, I surpassed my goal and won the competition. I had struggled losing all the weight after Mya was born so I never thought that I could have gotten to where I am now. All I need was the moral support, accountability, and competition to get myself into gear! Now I just need to keep it off. The best part about it, we are all winners! Thank you ladies!!!!!!!

well, boyfriends!!!!

I have started helping my friends out by babysitting their adorable little boys. I only got one week with Baby Manny, but come next school year, we will get a whole lot of time together!

Baby Isaiah will be spending most of the summer with us. They are 2 amazing little men. I feel like I have already learned a lot from them. Most important lesson so far, when changing their diaper always have the new one ready to go. I just experienced my first "boy shower."

If you have any advice, please send it my way. Boys are a whole new world for me! They sure are fun!

Baby Teya is officially 9 months old! She had her check-up yesterday and the stats are as follows:

Nick heads out to work about a week ago and says to me..."I will be home a little late. The department awards ceremony is coming up and they want me to be in the video. We are going to some paintball thing." I don't really think anything of it and go on with our day. Later that night Nick calls. He says the guys are coming by to record my reaction. I am thinking, what happened? I bet he has a bruise on his arm or something, they sure will be disappointed with my reaction. He walks in with a beanie on...shouldn't this be clue #1? The guys get set up and this is what I see...

They got a good reaction! Here is a link to the teaser video that they send out to his department. Oh, and what were they doing that he ended up with a huge goose egg on his head? Trying to shoot and apple of his head...what was he thinking?

This entry is for all of the wonderful moms out there (including myself), that take the best care of their kids as possible, but sometimes outside of our control...things go terribly wrong!

Just a few days ago, a few of my friends and their kids came by. We had a wonderful playdate with the 5 little girls and enjoyed pizza for lunch. Nap time crept up and it was time for everyone to go home. Mya, Teya and I walk everyone out and say our goodbyes. All the babies were in their car seats, when suddenly we hear..beep, beep...one of my friends daughter had locked herself in the car. All three mommy's were in shock. We try coaxing the little girl to press the unlock button, but to no avail. So, here I am saying..."I think I should call 911, should I call 911, I am going to call 911!!!!" Needless to say, 10 minutes after locking herself in the car, the firemen have come and saved the day!!! Did my friend to anything wrong? NO WAY! Maybe she won't give her daughter the keys anymore, but accidents happen. But, of course, she keeps beating herself up. So, that is why I wanted to write about this...I thought we could all tell our stories of when bad things happen to good moms/dads/sisters/brothers/friends, etc.

I will go first...
As you will read, I never posted this because I was embarrassed, but in retrospect, I know it was an accident. About three months ago, Aunt Kelsey and Uncle Andy were in town, we had just finished a delicious lunch and were heading home. The girls, Amy and I went directly home because it was nap time. I get the girls down and am heading in to hang out with Amy. All of a sudden I hear a scream and crying, so I run to Mya's room. She is gagging. I cup my hands in front of her mouth and say, "It's ok." Nothing comes out. I realize, she is choking. I swab her throat and immediately realize, it is one of her barrette. As soon as I realize what is happening she looks at me and says, "It's all gone." We call her doctor, they say go to Urgent Care, they X-ray her tummy and reassure me that lucky for us, as we could see on the X-ray...the barrette had passed through her esophagus and into her tummy without complications. So, our job was to find the barrette, when it passed. We never found her barrette, but Mya now knows that we do NOT put barrettes in our mouths.

What a weekend we had...there was family, golf and lots and lots of walking!

Nick's dad and Bonnie came to town for the weekend. What a nice treat for us, here is a picture of the girls with their Gamma Reechie and BonBon (now Mon, Mon).

It was a very relaxing visit! Except for the hour and a half that my sister, Teya and I walked/jogged (a little) in the 33rd annual Statesman Cap 10k! We had a wonderful time even with the drizzly, ickyness that was Sunday. =) It was such a great experience for me that I plan to do more races as long as they allow strollers. Maybe we can make it a family affair.

And, yes I pushed the stroller...like 80% of the time...although the pictures would say otherwise.

We are in the new house!!!! And LOVING every minute of it! The old house still hasn't sold, which is starting to give me ulcers, but it will happen, right?

We couldn't be happier here. We have a playroom, a guest room and a HUGE backyard with a playscape. We have so much "room to grow," I hardly know what to do with myself. The kitchen remodel looks amazing, check out before and after pics:

This new kitchen makes me want to spend my whole day cooking! Well, not really, but if I liked cooking, I would always be in there!

Our family has been visiting the past few weeks. My parents, brother and Grandpa came to help with the move. They were TONS of help and made moving so much easier! Then, 4 days later Nick's mom and Brent came to see the new house and celebrate Nick's birthday. We had such a wonderful visit with them. To top it off, Nick's sister and brother drove down from Fort Worth to surprise us! Here are pictures of their visits:

It seems like so much has been going on lately with the girls, the houses, us, you name it!

Teya is crawling, she can go from laying to sitting up on her own, she actually pulled herself up to standing in her crib (time to lower the crib!!) and eats solid foods. She was not at all interested in food until about a week ago and now, I can't get her enough! She is really become a little person. We are learning more and more about her personality. She seems to have a sense of humor already, is sensitive and overall a happy girl. But most of all, she loves her sister and tries to imitate her all the time!

Mya is napping again (hooray!!!), goes to bed relatively easy at night if we let her wear a band-aid (pretty funny - most kids have a special toy, Mya has a band-aid.) has fallen madly in love with chocolate or "chalkit" as she calls it, and insists on wearing the same pair of winter shoes (similar to UGG's) everyday even when it is 80 degrees!

Now the house...our old house is still for sale, but I am staying confident. It will sell soon! The new house is so fun! We are planning to move this weekend and have so much to do to prepare. We had some updates done to the house and are just so pleased with how it is coming along!!! I will put up some pictures soon.

I think the best part of ever parents day is that moment when you think, my kid is the smartest kid EVER! Mya got a leotard from her GG for Valentine's Day, and it was a hit! It is getting increasingly harder to get her out of it each day. =) Since it has been a little too chilly for her to walk around in only the leotard, we have had to come up with ways to make her outfit work. So, she decided that her winter boots and leggings were the perfect compliment to her ballerina attire!

So, it has been a while!

Right now, the girls and I are actually in Oklahoma. My dear, wonderful Grandma Dunn is not in the best of health. She will probably only be with us a little while longer, so I am happy that we were able to come up and be with her in the end. It is a very sad time, but lucky for me the girls have been perfect angels (cross your fingers this keeps up!).

On the house front...
I guess having a house on the market takes up a lot more time than you would expect. We are now the proud owners of 2 wonderful homes, but would be even happier if numero uno sold soon!!!!! We had tons of showings the first week and they are slowly dropping off. Which makes me crazy because I am constantly making sure everything is perfectly in its place and then, no one comes. I mean we like a clean house, but if the bed isn't made, none of us mind!

The girls have been growing right before my eyes! Teya is finally enjoying eating. Up until about 2 days ago, she would take one or two bites and the rest of her meal was all over the place, now it goes in her mouth and stays!!! She is already wearing 9 month old clothes and in size 3 diapers. I mean really...she isn't even 7 months old. It is going so fast!!! She is laughing and smiling all the time and she and Mya have really started to enjoy being around each other. Well, Mya enjoys poking and proding and luckily Teya just enjoys the attention from her sister. Mya has become our little comedian, she runs around the house half naked all the time dancing and singing. She tells friends "thank you for seeing us" after they visit, when it is time for us to leave somewhere, she says "dominos" (vamanos - let's go in Spanish), and every time I pump she says...my boobies are broken, can I pump too?

So, that is my long overdue update. More soon. Please keep my Grandma in your prayers!

Reading. It is one of our favorite things to do! The girls and I spend a good chunk of our day reading. Each week, there is a new favorite book that gets read at least 3 times a day. Right now, it is Chicken Dance by Tammi Sauer (thank you KPD!) and Hiccupotomus by Aaron Zenz (thank you Amy!). I feel like we have a pretty nice sized library for the girls and I know repetition is good, but it seems like we are running out of books. We love Where the Wild Things Are (Mya thinks the story is about her, not Max), Go Dog Go, Little Miss Spider, Hop On Pop, Corduroy and so many more.

We want to hear what your favorite children's books are, maybe we've read it and love it too or maybe it is a new adventure for us!

Thanks goodness for playdates!!!! We have such a wonderful group of mommies and kiddos! Thursday's are our favorites! For me, the biggest adjustment from working to staying home, was the the lack of grown-up conversation. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing more that I enjoy then talking about Super Why or going pee pee and poo poo or why this, why that. But, being with other moms, watching them interact with their kids and being able to talk about grown-up things for 3 hours out of my week....it is just the best! A big thank you to my wonderful mommy friends!

I feel like 2 days ago, I went to bed and had a newborn and toddler and then I woke up and now I have a infant and a big girl. Both of them seem to have changed so much in just days. But, the most changed award goes to Teya. We had to move the notches up on her exersaucer, she is wearing 9 month old clothes, she is actually grabbing for and playing with toys (really, eating them), and she sits at the dinner table and eats her rice cereal with us. She is now a participating part of the family, not just the beautiful baby that only sleeps, eats and poops. I think it is about to get even busier!

Being a parent is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. It is one crazy roller coaster of emotions with the predominant emotion being happiness!!!! Although, I must be honest, sometimes there is a little or a lot of frustration, but the end result is ALWAYS happiness! So, I wanted to write down all of the small things that Mya does to brings out that happiness:

Things Mya love:

asking us to say "hmmm..." when we make choices - and don't forget to put your finger to your mouth!
pretending to have to go potty 15 minutes after her bedtime ritual, just to see us
asking for 47 more minutes before it's bedtime
telling Mya she is my sweet girl and she says, no I am Mya S Marquez

She is one silly girl!!!! Now, don't think I have forgotten about Teya. She is one amazing little lady too, each day growing and changing. She sits up and chatters, non-stop! And, that smile...WOW, it melts my heart! I never want to forget these moments, because they go so quickly.

Well, it's really happening!!!! We close in a week on the new house and our current house is up for sale. It is such a mix of emotions! I mean, this was our first home, this is the home we brought our sweet puppy Trudy home to and even more importantly our 2 sweet little girls!! We have made so many memories in this home. I am sad to see this chapter end, but I know there are so many more chapters to our book. We will make so many more memories in our new home, but I will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart for our wonderful little house on Spotted Horse Dr.

It is funny, but since the house went on the market, I have started having so much anxiety. Is the house clean enough? Can we get out of here quick enough if someone calls? WHY isn't anyone calling? Should I bake cookies before people come? What music should I have playing? I know, I am crazy. I just have this grandeoso idea that the house will sell in a week...that gives us 4 more days...go house go!!!!

babies that is! Teya is 6 months old. WOW, time has flown by. She is now sitting up, rolling over, eating rice cereal and talking up a storm (baby talk, that is). She is just like Mya and nothing like her at the same time. One things for sure, they are big girls! Mya still takes the cake being 21 lbs at 6 months, but Teya is not far behind weighing 17 lbs 6 oz - she is officially in the 75th%. I couldn't be happier being a mom of 2. The neatest thing my mom ever told me was that with each new baby your heart just grows, you don't lose any of the love that you had for anyone else, it just multiples at first sight. So, true!

Lately, there isn't much better than a good nights sleep! And we are getting there, I can feel it in my bones. Soon, we will all sleep again. Last night we had a taste of what is in store for us in the near future, Teya slept 9 straight hours and then after nursing, slept 4 more! A little piece of heaven on earth, my friends! Although, I think teeth are on their way, so maybe not the too near future, but eventually...a girl can dream, right? That is, if she isn't woken up every few hours.

Shots. They stink! At least I hate getting them and Nick, well that is a whole other story...hate doesn't even come close to describing how he feels about them. Even today the 2 of us get a little nervous, but Mya, that girl is a trooper!!! Here is how today went:

Me: "Mya we have to go get a shot today, ok?"
Mya: " I get to get a sticker and candy? Ok! Let's do it, let's go get a shot, mommy!"

And that was the same up-beat attitude she had when we were in the doctors office. After the nurse gave the shot, she says..."ok, let's go get my sticker and candy!"

So much better then me! My mom told me they used to have to get 6 people to help hold me down to get a shot. I feel lucky since she is genetically predisposed to hate shots. =)

Hopefully, Teya will be as tough, but if this picture tells us anything, it looks like she will be...

Yes, you read that right!!!! We have a new house under contract. We have 5 days left in our option period and pending no horrible, unforeseen disaster, we will be almost doubling our square footage in a perfect 4/2.5!!! It backs up to a duck pond, which we love and is just the right house for us!!! It will be so sad to leave this one though...so many wonderful memories and so much hard work was put into it. I played a role in the memories, but not so much in the work. =)

We got a Wii for Christmas (thank you Gamma Reechie)! It is too much fun. The only thing is that Nick and I are so competitive that all we do is compete to see who gets a younger age when taking our Fitness Tests. It's a good thing we can only take the test once a day!!!!

What a week(s)! - PART 2

Now it's time for the good and there sure was a lot. Even being sick the majority of the 2 weeks, both girls were amazing!

We are really into starting our own traditions (there have been talks of celebrating Christmas and Ayyami-ha together in January, we would call it Chrisma-ha or Ayyami-mas), so since we were alone for Christmas this year, we made a few.

Our Christmas Eve consisted of looking at lights and driving around till we found doughnuts for Christmas morning - only downside is it turns out you are eating 2 day old dougnuts at that point! Christmas day was fun! We ate our stale doughnuts, opened some of our gifts and ate delicious green chile stew. The rest of the stew we drove around and gave to homeless people.

Over the next few days, we relaxed as a family and await the arrival of GG (Nick's mom), Manny, Aunt Kelsey and Uncle Andrew. While they were hear we ate, celebrated and ate some more!

Some highlights for the week:

Mya now negotiates everything and once we agree she says...so, it's a deal?
Mya has started asking permission for everything she does, it is like a constant game of Mother May I.
Teya is mostly sitting up on her own!
Mya has learned to say PEACE and does the hand sign too
Aunt Kelsey taught Mya new Yoga poses
We now have so many wonderful toys for the girls (thanks everyone!), we need a bigger house
We have a new (bigger) house under contract!

Well, 2 weeks went by too fast! It was so nice having Nick home with us!!! Where do I even start???

Let's start with the not so fun...

It all started on the 23rd. Mya had a dr appt. which was a good thing, because she had just started this HORRIBLE cough and congestion. She had croup. So, the rule in the house is no kissing your sister while you are sick. She wasn't getting much better, and on Sunday she said...my ear hurts!!!! So, Monday morning we went back to the dr and yes, Mya had an ear infection. All the while Teya is doing well. All of a sudden Wednesday came and Teya was a wreck...back to the dr. Guess what, Teya had bronchitis (which required a nebulizer), pink eye AND an ear infection. So, now 6 days later. We are finally almost back to normal. We were lucky though, Nick's mom and Brent were in town just in time for Teya to get sick and boy were they helpful!!!!

Teya is waking up...the good stuff to follow!

potty trained or training?

This has been an ongoing debate for quite some time now. Mya started the whole process about 9 months ago and there have been no #2 accidents that whole time. The only real struggle was with #1.

Nick says she's been potty trained for 6 months since he hasn't had to wipe a booty in half a year. I on the other hand feel that, in addition to avoiding accidents in your panties, you also need to be able to communicate when "it's time".

So cross your fingers and knock on wood because regardless of which definition you choose, Mya is officially potty trained. Sure, she'll have the occasional accident, but this was one of the best Christmas gifts we could have gotten!

This morning, Mya looked at me and said, "mommy my tummy hurts." and I said, "oh no, do you need to go potty?" To which she replied, "no mommy, milk makes my tummy happy!" She is a silly girl! I have started noticing that she asks for things like that a lot...whether it is wanting a snack or wanting to watch a cartoon. Whatever it is she needs/wants at the time is what will make her tummy feel good. Which I think she interpreters as makes her happy! =)

Since Teya was born, I've gone back monthly to compare pictures of Mya at the same age. It is fun to see not only the similarities, but the even more numerous differences in their features...and their size =). Yes, I know, Nick and I make big babies. At Teya's 4 month appointment she weighted 15lbs 8ozs, which put her in the 90%. When Mya was 4 months, she weighted over 17lbs (she was off the charts)!

Here is a picture of both of them right around 5 months. Apparently Teya has already learned how to strike a pose (be it a goofy one) from her big sister.

So many things are on my mind...

Like how can my 2 year old already be giving up naps. I just doesn't seem fair! We still have quiet time, but who doesn't like a good old nap? We are on 7 straight days of resting, but no sleeping at nap time...

Or, how do they get so smart? I remember Mya being baby Teya's age. When they just lay there smiling at you, taking in the world. Now, Mya is interacting with the world. She asks about her family and friends, calls them all the time on her play phone and has one-sided conversations much like mine must sound to her. And just yesterday, she says...turn it up, so I can hear, ok guys? I liked that she double checks to make sure we knew what she needs.

Or, my favorite was Teya this morning. We decided to remove the bumpers from her crib since she is rolling onto her tummy at night and tends to aim for the padded bumper. This morning when I went to get her up, both of her feet where hanging out of the crib, and she was just kicking them around like she was going for a swim!

I decided to do a spur of the moment photo shoot with the girls today. Maybe not the best idea I have had, but it was fun...kind of. Some of the pictures turned out nicely. As you will see they weren't the most cooperative models. We may need to go to a professional photographer!

When do kids give up nap time? I personally love nap time. I think it is wonderful!!!! But, Mya doesn't agree. Everyday...including today, we battle it out. We have a wonderful time reading books and singing songs and then - BOOM - angry I don't want to nap girl appears and takes away my sweet girl. What I don't know is if she is too young to give it up? Am I too stubborn by insisting she nap? Any suggestions???

It's too bad we don't have a reset button like most electronics. Wouldn't it be nice if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed acting like a crabby pants sandwich (thank you JMo) and you could just hit reset. I sure would appreciate that button these days with my lack of sleep. The crabbiness has nothing to do with my sweet husband or lovely little ladies...some mornings, I am just a grouch! I mean really, what do I have to be such a grump about...

I must say, I love being able to stay home with the girls!!! One more week and we have made it 4 months and have gotten into a really great groove. About 1 or 2 days each week both of the girls are napping at the same time. Which I love, but am also at a loss with what to do with myself. I mean there is always cleaning or prepping dinner, but really, isn't it nice to just relax for a second? Here is the kicker...we don't have cable. Yes, you heard me. We are the people that bought the new HD antenna thingy when analog TV went away. Sure it is nice to save the money, but when the best option I have to watch is Maury...I AM IN BIG TROUBLE. But, if any of you out there want to let your spouse know that you are cheating on them with a family member, then call Maury. Seriously, it makes me sad that there are people out there that 1) do that 2) would go on Maury to let their significant other know. Oh, and if you need to do paternity tests, he also does those...YIKES!

What a nice week. We just got back from Oklahoma! Nick needed to go back for work, so the girls and I headed up a few days early and partied with my parents. :)

We had such a great trip! I tried my first and probably last Jazzercise class with mom, (she is good, but I have no rhythm!) the girls went to their 1st NBA game, we ate delicious Ted's twice and got to go to the Sooner game with our friends Rick and Jamie!!!!

Mya was the prettiest princess out on Halloween and now says..."mom, I want my Halloween candy please." And has somehow picked up the phrase "...never, never, never..." So, you can imagine how our conversations go:

Mya, do you need to go potty? Never, never, never go potty

Mya, are you ready to rest? Never, never, never go nigh night

Mya is up...wonder what we will never, never, never be doing. :)

So, I know you are all asking yourselves...what do they do all day? Not really, but I guess I am going to tell you anyway. :)

Life with 2 little girls is a non-stop adventure! I can hardly believe that I thought it could be boring staying at home...no time for boring! Our typical weekday consists of Super Why! every morning, building castles with our alphabet blocks, coloring pictures of Wild Things, playdates with our friend Avery, Arden and Alex, yoga for Teya and I on Wednesday's and walks to the duck pond and park with Aunt Mayme. We have our regular visitors which we LOVE like Aunt Marisa and Aunt Jamie and call or email daddy all day long to find out when he gets home so he and Mya can "hide from the hoppers!" This week was special - Aunt Jamie came over for a Princess Party!!! We dressed up like princesses (Mya's is a princess for Halloween) and watched Sleeping Beauty...check out our pictures:

We really enjoy our weekends when we get Nick and they are always busy and fun-filled! A few weeks ago, we headed up to Ft Worth to visit our niece Gracyn, Uncle Mateo, Aunt Kelsey, Uncle Andrew, Gramma Reechie and Bon Bon. It was so nice to see little Gracie, she is becoming such a big girl!

This weekend was pretty special too! Not only did we watch Sooner football (a win, yeah!!! rough season so far...) and have Taco Deli twice, we got Mya's first haircut AND went to the pumpkin patch with our friends.

The Big Road Trip!

Yes, we did go on a 2 week road trip with a 1 month old and a 2 year old...I know what you are thinking...CRAZY!!!! But, we did it and are still around to talk about it.

The reason for the trip, a wedding. Nick's best friend was getting hitched in Durango, CO and Nick was a groomsman. So, we decided to stop and see family (yes, the last post was about how we saw all our family, but we wanted more!!!!) along the way.

So, here is how it went - Austin to Ft Worth, TX to Edmond, OK to Albuquerque, NM to Santa Fe, NM to Pagosa Springs, CO to Durango, CO to Colorado Springs, CO back to Albuquerque, NM to Edmond, OK to Ft Worth, TX and then finally Austin - 3,000 miles in the car...WOW!!!! At least 2 days in each location...

It could not have been more fun!!! Teya & Mya got to meet/visit with 3 of their 4 sets of great grandparents. It was special!!! Here are some pictures:

And, wow...we went to the wedding of the century! Talk about BEAUTIFUL!!!! It was a 4 day long celebration with tons of wonderful friends. Nick picked the most fabulous little house that we rented with the Silverton Train right outside our window (Mya LOVED it and it just so happened that she was always in her panties, waving at all the passangers :)) Thanks GiGi and Manny for coming along to help with the girls!

It was such a wonderful bonding experience for all of us! We learned that it is absolutely essential to have a portable DVD player when traveling with a 2 year old. After long enough, you do miss home cooked meals. I love stuffed sopapillas! There is only so many times you can listen to "Horsey, Horsey." And, we couldn't ask for better family and friends!!!!

It was so nice to see some of my Oklahomies and play with Alison & Lily in Colorado Spring!!!
